INSIDE A LONG-STANDING CONDOMINIUM

There is a popular book called “Vietnam Style” which proudly stands on bookshelves of all the notable book stores in Sai Gon. It is a pleasure to know how exotic and even elegant our culture is in the eyes of foreign authors. However, the book might be a precious resource for academic objectives but outside the pages, life does flow a different stream. This picture best describes the other side of the active Sai Gon – Ho Chi Minh city where motorcycles are in great number than cars and old condominiums are the real stage of the youth.

Some say if you want to clearly understand a particular country, you should travel there like a poor people. I say if you want to know Sai Gon well you should visit its condominiums. Take a look at any list of stunning coffee shops in useful websites like ghiencafe or foody etc… you will find a lot of them are placed inside old flats around the centre. Only in an affordable place like this, the young and flexible entrepreneurs can paint their dreams at the very first point.

So do we.

  1. That first photo is absolutely stunning… I loved Saigon when I visited last year, I wish I’d had more time to explore! It’s so hard sometimes when you’re travelling to be able to really understand and see beyond the closed doors!

    • Thank Jess, I am so excited to hear that you love Saigon. I think it takes time to really understand one country as it takes time to knock on closed doors and hopefully wait until some of them open 🙂 My dearest friend visited Bangkok for 8 times and she is still willing to come back, I must say I myself may not have enough encouragement to do that. Anyway, thank you so much for the comment ❤

Can we share our opinions ? :)
