Going to school by that little old-fashioned vehicle was a part of elementary pupils life in Vietnam. With the same function as the big yellow school bus we saw in Western movies but here we have “an kindhearted noisy old man”.

The first time I saw this vehicle, I was amazed. At that time, my mind could not imagine that this meanΒ of transport was still in use. My heart was full of joy when seeing this in such a good condition. The childhood of those elementary pupils who going to school by this old manΒ must be a little bit special than others who come by motorcycles or cars.

What a way to travel to school. I bet back in the day all the kids crammed into the back like sardines, since there seems to be only a few places to sit. Many years ago in Malaysia, we had open-windowed yellow school buses to fetch students to-and-fro from school…they still exist today πŸ™‚

Back to that day, it was really crowded when traveling by this vehicle but nowaday, just a few kids choose to use it to get to school. I think children of this digital age like everything fast, they almost forget the meaning of enjoying the road not the destination πŸ™‚

As hard as this is to believe, but I’m sure the kids used to have a lot of fun in the old days – more than nowadays – they were just kids!

Kids have a quite different standard of happiness from adults. They can play all day long with many humble things that adults do not understand (or do not remember). A peaceful childhood always the sweetest time in life :).
